Dearth or Deluge – Famine or Flood? Think Big To Win

People with a scarcity mentality tend to see everything in terms of win-lose. There is only so much; and if someone else has it, that means there will be less for me. The more principle-centered we become, the more we develop an abundance mentality, the more we are genuinely happy for the successes, well-being, achievements, recognition, and good fortune of other people. We believe their success adds to...rather than detracts from...our lives.”  Stephen R. Covey

You must know that there are vast numbers of people out there who would potentially buy your information products* and services - but only a few currently become your paying customers. So what happens between "vast numbers" and "only a few"? How do you reach more of your market?

Clearly there are many different answers to these questions and I'll be covering lots of ideas to help you in the weeks and months to come.

In this blog post I want to share with you just one idea, which will be key to your thinking and therefore to your whole business. The key question that I want to ask you now is:

Do you more often think of Scarcity or Abundance?

While some people focus on lack (for example, believing that a national or international 'recession' must automatically translate into a personal disaster), others luxuriate. Which would you rather do?

You must be aware that nobody ever got rich (in any sense) by thinking small. And you may be wondering how this realisation can be applied to creating and marketing information products*.

Fact: there are very, very, very many people in the world - literally billions of folk

Fact: very, very many of these people (millions, if not billions) would greatly benefit from a clear, concise, cost-effective way of learning how to do the things they want to do, but don't know how to do - yet.

Fact: for very many of these people (many thousands, if not millions), using information products* is the clearest, most concise, most cost-effective way of learning.

Fact: everyone (that includes you!) has some kind of specialised knowledge or experience that others would love to learn about. This knowledge and experience can be packaged in an information product*.

Fact: even within your specialised niche, there are thousands of prospective customers out there - far more people than you can ever hope to talk to face to face.

Note that if this is not the case then I guess you haven't done your market research properly - we'll come to that in another blog post! :-)

Fact: fortunately, we now have the technology to reach far more of our prospective customers

Fact: there are many, many specialised niches to explore and exploit.

What I'm trying to say here is that whether your cup is half empty or half full (or even overflowing!) depends primarily on your mindset - your way of thinking.

So make bigger plans - believe you can, rather than assuming you can't! Let your abundance, including your willingness to share, be a shining example to others! Who are you to withhold your gift from those who would benefit most?

Once you start thinking bigger, believing that you can and including other people's welfare (not just your own) in your master plan, abundance will start to flow through you.
